VOSTOCHNY SPACEPORT, Amur Region, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- Russia successfully launched early on Thursday the first rocket Soyuz-2.1a from the Vostochny spaceport in the country’s Far East with three satellites on board, and the apparatuses were put into orbit, a spokesperson for the Federal Space Agency said.
The satellites are domestic Aist-2D, scientific apparatus Mikhailo Lomonosov and nano-satellite SamSat-218D. Connection was established with all the three satellites, and they function in an ordinary mode, the agency said.
The agency’s head Igor Komarov said the launch was a historic event.
The launch was at first arranged for Wednesday, but later delayed until Thursday due to technical malfunctions.
The spaceport is expected to make eight to 10 unmanned launched per year in the future.
